Hi. My name is FlipSide Poetry, and this is my story.
I was born in a manger in a little town.... oh wait. That's not me.
I was born Robert Daniels in a little-known town called Las Vegas. You've probably never heard of it.
Anyway, I am the third of four children and a classic middle child, meaning I am the coolest of the four, but still carry some trauma from being beaten up by my older siblings, but always punished if I laid a hand on the baby.
I honor the fact that I am also the black sheep of the crew. I am the only artist and non-corporate type of the six of us, although my mother was a lot like me.
I've never been married but have been in two long-term relationships (5+ years) that were like marriages. I have a 12-year-old daughter that I love with all of my heart and soul. She has produced a track for me (My Favorite Color) and has been a featured artist on two other songs (It's Summer and Waiting...).
I love music, poetry, TV, and love because at heart, I am a sucker for a great story. A well-written story can make me cry, and I am not ashamed of that.
I started writing poetry for my mother when I was eight years old because it made her smile. Then, when I was 13, I realized it made other girls smile, too.
In 2020, I started making my poems into songs and producing music as an outlet for what I now know as anxiety.
When I am not making music or writing poetry, I am a referee for multiple sports, a website designer, an e-commerce owner, and a public relations specialist.
In my career, I have also taught more than a hundred poetry workshops, been a founding member of a poetic theater group called BlackPoet Ventures, and run an underground music magazine called People's Underground Beat (PUB Magazine).
I have written three poetry books (Love & Crappiness; 365 Haiku; and Say Something... Or Not, Whatever), a DIY book (Everything Is Coming Up Green), a fitness journal (Losing Is Winning), and a children's book (Indigo and the Rainbow Squad) -- all available on Amazon. I have also produced three albums, Who Said Poetry Has to Be Sad?; It's Hard Out Here for a Poet; and the upcoming Dedications: Love, Life, and Loss. Each of the released albums is available for purchase on iTunes and to listen to on all the music streaming sites.
Whew! Now you know everything you need to know... Oh, I forgot to tell you why they call me FlipSide. That is a good story. Well, I think there is a character limit. I will tell you what I can. It all started in 1987, and I
GET TO KNOW ME
